Lagos: Our Number Plates Are Genuine – GM MVAA

The General Manager of the Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, Mr. Lateef Lawal has declared that the number plates being issued by the Agency are genuine and authentic.

The GM made the declaration at the Agency’s office in Alausa while reacting to an on-line publication which challenged the genuiness of the plates, noting that the Lagos State Number Plates Production Authority has the mandate to produce the plates, while the Motor Vehicle Administration Agency is saddled with the responsibility of issuing the plates to end users.

He said the State Government, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Vehicle Inspection Service are collaborating to ensure that the era of fake motor documents and driver’s license becomes a thing of the past, adding that the process of obtaining motor documents and drivers licence are now seamless and less cumbersome.

While reiterating the need for motorist to obtain their motor insurance policy from duly accredited insurance companies in order to make the process of registration complete, Lawal emphasised the need for prospective drivers to go for training at accredited driving schools as a necessary pre-requisite for obtaining driver’s license.

The General Manager advised motorist to desist from engaging touts to procure motor documents, imploring them to patronize any of the Motor Vehicle Administration Agency offices located in the 89 Out-Stations across the State for all vehicle particulars.

He equally stressed that motor vehicle administration services are fully automated and that the Agency came first in service delivery contest organized by the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation under the Office of Head of Service of Lagos.

Mr. Lawal concluded that the Lagos State Government, through the MVAA, is committed to improved service delivery to all residents in the state.
