Ladoja Wrongly Advised by Lawyers – Ajimobi

Rotimi Agboluaje, Ibadan

The Special Adviser to Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Political Matters, Dr Gbade Ojo,has said the Accord gubernatorial candidate in the last elections, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, was wrongly advised by his lawyers to go to tribunal to seek redress instead of conceding defeat as done by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Dr.Ojo stated this on Thursday while speaking with newsmen in Ibadan, the state capital. According to the political scientist: “Senator Ladoja was wrongly advised by his lawyers. He should have accepted he lost in the election and conceded defeat like others have done but I still commend him for going to the tribunal instead of resorting to jungle justice by inciting his supporters to violence. That is the joy of democracy”.

He observed that Ladoja went to the court because of the coming local government election, assuring that he would lose at the tribunal as it happened during the polls. “When you study the pattern of the election result, you will notice its uniqueness. The card readers made it impossible for anybody to carry out any electoral malpractice.

“That was why Otunba Alao Akala and Senator Teslim Folarin of Labour Party and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) respectively quickly congratulated Governor Ajimobi immediately after the collation exercise because they were convinced that it was free and fair,” said Dr.Ojo. Ojo,who is a University of Ilorin scholar queried why Ladoja whose party did not win any seat at the National Assembly instructed Accord agents not to sign the necessary forms after the collation of results, pointing out that “Accord is limited to Ibadan and it lacks the mandatory spread expected of a national party”.
