Kaduna state police command Thursday arrested over 41 suspected kidnappers and criminal gangs who had been terrorising and snatching peoples cars within the state and its environment.
Those arrested include the three persons suspected of playing roles in the abduction of Pastor Elijah Afolabi which occurred on Abuja – Kaduna highway recently.
Dangerous weapons including local and foreign made riffles and charms were also recovered from the suspects.
Parading the 41 suspects before newsmen in Kaduna state command headquarters, new commissioner of police Mr Ibrahim Audu, said the command adapted aggressive intelligence driven and well structured visibility policing which involved periodic and unscheduled raiding of hideouts.
He also said “the command, in line with the ideology of the present administration adapted unscheduled but adequate organized raiding that is proactive, preventive and offensive against crime in its description and execution”.
Audu said the command would continue to maintain the tempo in collaboration with communities and synergize with other critical security agencies and stakeholders to rid the state of crime.
According to him, the approach would gain prominence by its impact on crime prevention and control, assuring that enforcing discipline among the rank and file would enhance professionalism and strengthen police to deliver quick service in addressing crime situations in the state command.
