There was jubilation in Ile-ife, the cradle of the Yorubas yesterday as sons and daughters of the town trooped out to major roads and streets of the ancient town following the announcement of Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi as the new Ooni Of Ife.
Armed with portraits and many banners which accomodate Adeyeye’s photograph, they moved round the nooks and crannies of the town to express their joy in the newly appointed king.
In front of the palace of Ooni were the combine team of both regular and mobile policemen, officers of Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC),traditional hunters and vigilantee group were stationed.
Also, an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) was seen stationed in front of the palace.
The Laadin Of Ife and Secretary of traditional Kingmakers, Chief Adetoye Adewole who spoke with journalists disclosed that, the choice of Ogunwusi is ordained by the gods of the land.
Ogunwusi described the new appointed Ooni Of ife as a man of dignity with impeccable character saying.
He then appealed to the people of the town to cooperate with the new monarch in order to make the town more virile.
Also,Lowa Adimula, the chairman of kingmakers, Oba Joseph Ijaodola, said due process was followed before the selection and recommendation of the newly appointed monarch to the state government for its official endorsement.
He pointed out that, the newly appointed monarch has all it takes and expressed confidence in his ability and capability to make the town a pacesetting one.
Also speaking, the former Special Adviser to governor Rauf Aregbesola on Youths and Special needs, Mr. Biyi Odunlade, described Ogunwusi as an intelligentsia of note with outstanding wherewithals.
He expressed optimism that his tenure would witness more of achievements and transformation.
