Jonathan Trekker Arrives Osogbo

Yetunde Oladejo, Osogbo

The young man, Mohammed Isa, who embarked on trekking exercise to celebrate President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for conceding defeat in the last March 28th 2015 Presidential Election on Sunday night arrived at Osogbo, Osun State Capital after five days he started the journey. Isa arrived Osogbo on Sunday around 10:45pm and slept at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in the state. He has since left Osogbo for Akure, in Ondo State on Monday around 8am.

Isa is a native of Borno, born in Plateau State, is a graduate of Psychology. It would be recalled that Hashimu Abubakar had trekked from Lagos to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to celebrate the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari’s in the Presidential Election. Isa who informed the newsmen before leaving Osogbo yesterday that he did not begin his trekking in Plateau because it was very close to Abuja said that he travelled from Plateau to Lagos before he began his journey.

According to him, “I started from Berger on Wednesday May 6 and I passed through Gbongan, Ode-Omu to Osogbo. “I chose to trek for Jonathan because I see him as a good leader. If he had done like that of Ivory Coast and refused to concede defeat, nobody knows what would have happened.

“The fact that I am a Muslim does not mean that I should not celebrate Jonathan for the sacrifice he made for this country by accepting defeat.” Isa who expressed optimism that he would meet the President and present him an award however said “if I did not see him, I don’t care.” “If I die on the road, I still believe that I die for what is right,” he added.
