Insurgency: PDP , APC Commend Buhari, Service Chiefs

The efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari in fighting corruption and other related vices obstructing growth and development in the country has been commended by the Adamawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Chief Joel Madaki, state chairman of the party made this disclosure yesterday while speaking to journalist on the outcome of the party state and local government executives meeting at the party secretariat.

According to him, the issue of corruption was among what the meeting discussed adding that his members were happy with the fight and want it to be executed without discrimination, fear or favour to anybody established to have stolen from the state or country at large.

On the APC led government in the state, Madaki said that the PDP would provide it with credible opposition, adding that PDP would criticise it where necessary and also praised it where necessary. All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday commended the Service Chiefs for personally taking charge of the ongoing steppedup fight against Boko Haram, describing the development as a breath of fresh air in the war against insurgency.

In a statement issued in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said that the widely published report that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, are personally coordinating the efforts of their troops in the theatre of war is the best news to have emerged from the frontline of the Boko Haram battle.

‘’There can be no bigger boost to the morale of the gallant troops who are combating Boko Haram than the sight of their Service Chiefs personally leading the charge from one village to another battling the insurgents or flying in a reconnaissance aircraft coordinating the various NAF platforms involved in the operation to provide close air support to ground forces.

‘’By their actions, Lt.-Gen. Buratai and Air Marshal Abubakar have shown that they care deeply for their troops and are determined to lead them to beat the deadline set by President Muhammadu Buhari to end the Boko Haram insurgency,’’ it said, adding that the Service Chiefs and the troops they are leading are a pride to the military and indeed to Nigeria.
