Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. Solomon Arase, yesterday rewarded six policemen attached to the Lagos State Police Command, with instant promotion to their next ranks, after they displayed an uncommon height of professionalism and boldness. The Police boss who was in the State, in continuation of his tour of State Police Commands and Formations, had inspected the guard of honour mounted for him by officers and men of the Lagos State Command, but was about leaving the command premises without dismantling the guard of honour as protocol demands.
The Police IG who was thrilled by the display of professionalism and boldness ordered that the six rank and files be promoted to their next rank immediately for drawing his attention to “a little slack in a very important part of the Force’s protocol.” “One of the policemen had drawn the attention of the IGP to the fact that he must come and dismantle the guard of honour before leaving or else they may remain at the quarter guard till the following day.
As soon the IGP was told this, and he immediately came out of his vehicle and performed the necessary ceremony of dismantling the guard of honour.” Earlier, the Police boss had told the gathering of senior Police officers in the command that the ban on roadblocks was still in force. He warned that some 16 teams of anticorruption Policemen have already been deployed across the country to go after corrupt Policemen.
