The President General of Igbo community, Barr. Jonah Ezekweme, who also doubles as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Paints and Aluminum, has lauded Governor Simon Lalong for appointing the immediate past Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman governing council of the Plateau State University Bokkos. Mr Ezekweme saluted Governor Lalong’s courageous decision in appointing non indigenes to serve the state in high position especially in academic system.
The Igbo Community President General made this disclosure to our correspondent in Jos while filling question on the appointment of Prof. Jega. He said this did not come to him as a surprise, but as some of the fulfilment of the campaign promises made by Governor Lalong. Mr. Ezekweme also called on the governor not to procrastinate on appointing non indigenes into the state government key position as he has started with the appointment of Prof. Jega.
He also reminded Governor Lalong of Igbo Community wishes and desires which they tabled to him during his electioneering campaign at a town hall meeting. Mr Ezekweme called on the governor to look into those issues especially by appointing any member Igbo community into government position as he reveals that non indigenes living in the state are the same as indigenes. He also disclosed that most of the Igbo people living here in the state were born and brought up here, aside from their business umpire they built here in the state.
The President General assured the governor that Igbo people in the state would use their wealth of experience and of their commitments towards the development of the state, if giving the mandated to serve in his administration for the betterment of the people. Furthermore, Mr. Ezekweme, descended heavily on the passed government of Jonah David Jang for his administration’s refusal to give certificate of occupancy to land owners in Jos and Bukuru metropolis for the passed eight years he reigned as governor.
