The Ebonyi State Government has dismissed a media report on the online that a section of the Government House in Abakaliki was on Friday gutted by fire, saying that it is not the true.

The government, in a brief press statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Emma Anya, said members of the public, especially Ebonyians should disregard the story.

Anya explained: “there was a spark in the office of the Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Petroleum, Mr.Onyibe Bassey Chima on Friday but no portion of the office was damaged”.

According to him, the spark of the light took place when the SSA on Petroleum was attending the burial of the mother in –in-law, of a former SGF, Senator Anyim.

He said that when Mr. Chima was alerted of the incidence, he raced back to the Abakaliki only to discover that God had intervened though some members of the staff in Government House, who doused the spark.

He emphasized that only a photo copier and television set in the said office was slightly affected adding that no portion of the Ebonyi State Government house was gutted by fire.
