Gov Emmanuel Awards Contract For Construction Of Roads In Ika LGA

Residents of Urua Inyang and Ikot Uko in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State are in for a better deal as the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, awards contract for the construction of the road linking the two communities with Azumini, a border Community of Abia State.

The Governor said the project will begin in earnest next year.

Governor Emmanuel announced this at Saint Patrick Catholic Church Urua Inyang in Ika Local Government Area during the funeral service of Late Madam Lucy Philip Enyeama, mother of the Akwa Ibom born living Soccer legend Vincent Enyeama.

The Governor noted that the road, when constructed will facilitate the industrialization drive of his administration as people of the area who are predominantly farmers will find it easy to transport their produce to appropriate market and create wealth for sustainable economy.

He added that the gesture is in fulfilment of the divine mandate agreement he had entered into with the people of the state during his election campaigns for superior performance.

He reiterated his commitment to meaningfully engage youths in productive ventures by providing platforms for them to showcase their talents.

Governor Emmanuel commended the parents of the international footballer Vincent Enyeama for inculcating in him the virtue of hard work and discipline which has added to his talent to bring him to limelight in the soccer arena.

He, therefore, called on parents to help build sound moral values in their children for the state to produce more stars in keeping with the philosophy of greatness as enshrined in Dakkada.

Governor Emmanuel used the occasion to condemn the new wave of falsehood propagated by local tabloid with the intention to blackmail and distract the focus of the administration and called on the practitioners of what he termed yellow journalism, to disengage from such practices and take a cue from the State Dakkada ambassadors in the likes of Ray Ekpu, Vincent Enyeama, Ufot Ekong, Peace Effiong and others who have distinguished themselves in various fields of endeavour.

In his condolences, the State Governor urged the bereaved family to live with the understanding that the deceased has only cashed a cheque in the vault of Heaven to draw eternal life. He said her good works are timeless values, which will be conserved eternally in the heart of those who knew and interacted with her.

Speaking on behalf of the family the son of the deceased, Mr Vincent Enyeama, expressed appreciation to the Governor for identifying with them in their period of grief. He specifically thanked the Governor for the gesture and solicited for extension of the road project to his hometown Efen Ikot Okoro.

The super Eagles number one goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama prayed God to sustain the Udom administration for it to deliver more democratic dividends to Akwa Ibom people.

Also, the Dean Saint Patrick Catholic Church, Reverend Father Michael Mendie, informed the people that Governor Emmanuel was the first State Chief Executive to visit the Church since its creation in 1960. He solicited support in the Church expansion project and prayed God to bless his tenure which he has used to impact positively on the people.
