OPC national coordinator raises the alarm that his life is in danger as plans
National Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams yesterday raised the alarm over plot assassinate him with a decoy of attacking his convoy by suspected sponsored hoodlums on the payroll of a top Lagos based politician. Adams who cried out through a statement by the Director of Media of OPC, Barrister Yinka Oguntimeyin, said the plot was to cause chaos and paint him in bad light shortly after the inauguration ceremony of the new government. The statement also revealed that part of the plot was also to publish a negative story on the OPC chieftain, if they succeed in the planned violent attack, stressing that, the group assigned to carry out the operation has met severally, with money exchanging hands from their Agaju Madugba, Kaduna The All Progressive Congress (APC) caucus in the Kaduna state House of Assembly has accused outgoing Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of a plot to defraud government of the sum of N2.744 billion, 13 days to the end of his administration.
Addressing a press conference in Kaduna yesterday, the caucus described as “an act of last minute looting,” Yero’s decision to sponsor, who is bent in using political propaganda to discredit Adams. “This is to alert concerned Nigerians that after several failed attempts to remove the leader of the Odua Peoples Congress by expelled members of the Congress, security report at our disposal revealed that a top Lagos based politician has devised ways to create chaos and attack the convoy of Otunba Gani Adams soon after the handover of Government to Gen. Buhari”, the statement emphasized. “The group has met severally, with heavy funding by a Lagos based politician, their plan, which we are privy to, is to make use of the media to publish negative stories on the person of Otunba Gani Adams, using political party propaganda machinery which failed despite several sponsored negative stories on his person. They now want to create chaos by attacking the convoy of the National leader of the congress.”
The statement said, a meeting was held on Thursday by the group at the Oworonsoki, Lagos residence of an expelled member of the congress, and attended by 35 grassroots members of a zone, where a decision was reached that a 3-man committee which is to monitor Gani Adams movement from his Festac town residence to his office and provide information as regards his day to day movement. OPC said it was also aware that modern arms, which include AK-47 guns were collected two days ago and distributed for the gang members of the plot.” “By this statement, we are bringing to the attention of the world the sinister plot to eliminate Otunba Gani Adams and regarding the Sure-P funds. Moreover, according to Shagali, the fund in question has already been indicated in the handing over notes of the outgoing government. The APC warned that if the House approves the request, “there is no how a local government council can judiciously execute any meaningful project within two weeks considering the fact that diligent due process and financial regulations have to be should the attempt fail or we repeal the attack, they will feed the media with false information further claiming that OPC is made up of thugs and touts”, it added.
