Four Die, 11 Injured In Road Crash

Four commuters in a Lagos bound 18- seater bus yesterday lost their lives, in a lone auto accident along Oke-Onigbin- Omu-Aran Express road in Kwara.

Our Correspondent gathered that the deceased were two males and two females with eleven others sustaining various degrees of injury. Among the injured were five children and six adults who were later rushed to Ajisafe and General Hospitals both at Omu – Aran, headquarters of Irepodun LGA, Kwara State.

The accident, our Correspondent gathered, involved an 18 passenger Mazda bus marked GBH 48 SA. The bus, said to have loaded 15 passengers at a garage in Omu-Aran, was on his way to Lagos when the accident occurred at about 12:40 pm few minutes after it took-off.

The accident that also claimed the life of the driver, according to an eyewitness account, was attributed to a tyre burst which resulted in the bus somersaulting severally before it landed inside the bush.

“I think the driver entered one of the potholes on the highway and had a tyre burst and swerve several time before it enter the bush,” said the source who preferred anonymity. Confirming the incident and the death to our correspondent, Mr Akeem Abdulkareem, the FRSC Director of Operation at Omu-Aran said the driver might have been over speeding before the incident occurred.
