Vice President Yemi Osinbajo say the Federal Government would partner with seven states to increase food production
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday disclosed that the Federal Government is currently partnering with seven states of the federation to increase food production thereby making the country to be self-sufficient and sustainable through massive agricultural produce.
Besides, he said that President Muhammadu Buhari led-Federal Government is irrevocably committed to solve the power problem and encourage small scale businesses in the country.
Speaking at the 10th Anniversary and 7th Convocation of the Redeemer’s University of Nigeria (RUN), Ede, Prof. Osinbajo who is also the chairman, Board of Trustees of the University stressed that the Federal Government is committed to improve the economy of Nigeria through development of agriculture.
The Vice President stated further that the government is making efforts at ensuring that it establish technology pact with some developed countries on the processes of the agricultural products adding that the technology pact would be designed with power and internet to do business without the cost of petrol or diesel.
“Agriculture is they key to our economy plan and we are committed to bringing to Nigerians a self sufficient rice, cassava, cashew and several others crops.” He then charged the graduating students to ensure virtue of integrity stressing that good virtue shall make them great. “ You are the future of Nigeria.
You are the future Nobel laureate of this country, future lawyers, engineers and the hope of the country. Let integrity be your watchword, with integrity you can go far in the country.”
Also speaking, the Osun state Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola called on universities in Nigeria to turn out graduates that will be able to stand on their own in terms of entrepreneurial skills. Aregbesola also urged Redeemer’s University not to relent in its rating as one of the leading lights in the area of research in Africa.
The governor then urged the graduating students to be good ambassadors of their various communities, states, Nigeria and the entire world, stressing that they should continue to showcase to the world the virtues of patriotism, love, peace, professionalism and nationalism in all their endeavours.
In his goodwill message, the General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, who is also the visitor to the university, Pastor Enock Adeboye implored the graduating students to always remains focused, determined and resilient in all their endeavours as they are transiting to the new world of fulfilment, challenging and accomplishment.
Pastor Adeboye admonished the graduating students to learn from his life as he was brought to the world through poor parents, but remained determined to achieve greatness and success in life.
Highlights of the ceremony was the awards to Prof. Folagbade Olajide Aboaba, a renowned academic and Engineer and the wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Mrs. Foluke Adeboye who bagged Honorary Doctor of Science and Doctor in Science management respectfully.
Dignitaries at the convocation ceremony included the Vice-President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Deputy Governor of Osun, Mrs. Grace Titi- Tomori, the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Bishop Francis Wale Oke among others.
