FCT Minister Fires Tangaza, Reshuffles Others

Embattled Director of Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS), Hajia Jamila Tangaza, who is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged corrupt practices, has been fired by Minister, of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello.

In her place, the Minister appointed Dr. Isa Jalo.

Tangaza was last weekend questioned by EFCC following several petitions to the commission against her activities. She was appointed to the office in April 2013 by erstwhile FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed.

The minister also approved the appointment of Adamu Hussaini Jibrin as the new Director of Land Administration and redeployed the Director, Departments of Parks and Recreation as well as Development Control.

The changes were contained in a circular dated August 10, 2016 and signed by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye.

The new Directors of Parks and Recreation as well as Development Control are Ali Alhaji Ukele and Mukhtar Galadima Usman respectively.

Others changes announced include: Imande Victoria, Director, Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD); Obiechina Helen Nneka, Director, Resettlement and Compensation; Ahmed Zalihau, Director, Urban and Regional Planning; Dr. Okoroukwu Humphery, Director, Public Health; Mrs. Jogai Cerie, Director, Archives and History Bureau and Olaloye Marufu Omoniyi, Director, Facilities Maintenance and Management.

Abubakar Yahaya was also announced as new Secretary of Urban and Regional Planning Tribunal, while Mrs. Ohamma Perpetual Ndawii takes charge as the Deputy Director (Planning and Resettlement) in the Resettlement and Compensation Department.

The Circular also directed that all Deputy Directors currently in the Departments of Land Administration and Development Control should report to the Department of Establishment and Training for further posting instructions.

The former Directors Land Administration, AGIS, Parks and Recreation, Facilities Maintenance and Management, Urban and Regional Planning, Development Control and Ibiang Okoi Ikpi of Facilities Maintenance and Management are to await further posting; while former Deputy Director/ Land Registrar in Land Administration Department is to report to Legal Services Secretariat for posting, the circular read.

The circular further directed that all changes are with immediate effect and all handing and taking over formalities are to be completed before Friday, August 12, 2016.
