The running mate to late Prince Abubakar Audu in the November 21, 2015 gubernatrial election James Abiodun Faleke has described the appointment of Kogi State Deputy Governor as an illegality begetting illegality.
Speaking through the the media director of Audu/Faleke campaign organization, Duro Mesoko said they have spoken over and over again that Alhaji Yahaya Bello,s emergence as Governor is founded on manifest illegalities.
“So, it stands to reason that any action emanating from him would be illegal.
“That is the reason why we are before the Tribunal to get justice in order to put an end to these illegalities.”
Mesoko indicated that Bello can not be claiming to have picked Honorable Simon Achuba from Audu’s camp saying that if he belonged to the camp he would have believed in their ideologies.
He said the Audu/Faleke group maintains that their principal won the election adding that Faleke should have been the governor elect and not deputy Governor.
He said Achuba was on his own adding he was not standing in as replacement for the Audu/Faleke’s ticket.
This was coming against the backdrop of a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor Abdulik Abdulkarim Omuya that says Achuba belongs to Audu’s camp.
“It is also instructive to note that the choice of Achuba from the political camp of the late Prince Abubakar Audu was not only an expression of respect for the late elder statesman, but a timely ethnic balancing move which has been the pillar of the Bello Administration.”
The statement reads, “Governor Yahaya Bello’s choice of Deputy meets legal, political and social criteria.
“The choice of Hon. Simon Achuba as Kogi State Deputy Governor is in line with the Governor’s tradition of ensuring the advancement of the rule of law and ethnic balancing without prejudice to merit.
continuing he said “Hon. Achuba is a seasoned administrator with diverse experience in Local Government administration and legislative governance. The statement explained that the deputy Governor was a one time Vice Chairman of Ibaji Local Government Area.
