Paramount traditional; ruler of the Ngwa people of Abia state, popular as Ezeukwu of Ngwa Ukwu, Eze Bernard Enweremadu, Friday imparted royal blessings on Governor Okezie Ikpeazu whom he also described as a blessing to the state.
The Ezeukwu also said that Ikpeazu’s election as Abia governor, was a proof that God answers prayers adding that through Ikpeazu, God answered prayers of Abians, especially the people of Ukwa-Ngwa, who had yearned for a governor of Abia south extraction.
Speaking when Gov. Ikpeazu paid him a visit at his royal palace at Ahiaba Okpuala in Isiala Ngwa North, the monarch called on the governor to see himself as the father of every Abian.
He also urged him to accommodate his opponents.
“As governor of Abia State, you are the father to every Abian. If you have not been told, I want to tell you that you are a blessing to Abia State and the entire Igbo race. And God has brought you to rebuild Abia.
“Governor, do everything to unite Abia. Don’t listen to those who will come to you to sow seeds of discord between you and your people. Forgive your political opponents, those who want to work with you, welcome and accommodate them, but be careful.
“Anybody that will plan evil against you and your government will not succeed. Those who are not happy that you are governor will forever remain unhappy unless they repent.
“Continue the good work you are doing for Abia; do not be deterred. God is with you and He will provide everything you need to govern Abia State”, Ezeukwu prayed.
Eze Enweremadu, who expressed delight at the visit of the Governor to his Palace, decried the believe that the Igbo are a people without leadership.
He stressed that it was the enemies of the Igbo people who implanted such erroneous believe, which most Igbo, he said, appear to have accepted to be true.
He however, insisted that Igbos are a people with organized leadership and kings, but expressed concern that Igbos lacked respect for their kings and leaders.
Eze Enweremadu however, expressed his undying support for the Ikpeazu administration, while urging him to ensure that he leaves a mark that would remain eternal as the governor of the State.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, had told the paramount traditional ruler that he was at the palace to appreciate, and thank, the him for his support and prayers during the campaigns.
He said the advice and support of the monarch helped him pull through the trying times.
The Governor also appealed for more of his support and prayers as he continues to lead the people and promised not to fail the Ukwa-Ngwa people, Abia and Nigeria at large.
