Gabriel Idibia, Kaduna

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state has identified various historic cultural sites in the state with a view to upgrading them to create employment and improve tourism.

Accordingly, discussions with international partners, who had proposed to uplift the sites to world heritage centers, have commenced.

Kaduna state Commissioner of Youth, Sports and Culture, Mr. Daniel Amuze Dan-Auta, who disclosed these Thursday at a briefing on first year anniversary of the administration, said government was equally exploiting other tourist sites, places and festivals across the state that have potentials to create employment opportunities for youths in state.

“The pragmatic administration of Mallam El-Rufai has since focused on identifying the various historic cultural sites which took me to the Nok Cultural sites in Jaba local government area of the state with a view to upgrading the facilities”, he said.

Dan-Auta also said already, the Kaduna State Festival for Arts and Culture (KADFEST), an annual feature in the state, would be re-packaged to add more value even as it has been a regular participant at Calabar Carnival.

Dan-Aura said the mandate of his ministry and policy programmes had been designed to prepare youths adequately for self-fulfillment and prevent them from involvement in social vices.

According to him, the main objective of youth development is to prepare the youth adequately in order to transit smoothly to adult life as free, responsible and productive citizens.
