Sen. Uche Ekwunife (PDP-Anambra Central) has advocated for a female Minister of Works and male Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development. Ekwunife made the call during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Anambra Central Senatorial zone in Awka yesterday.
The lawmaker said women have shown capacity in various political offices they have held in the past to be entrusted with bigger responsibility of Minister of Works in the country.
“Women have shown capacity in all offices entrusted to them in the country and it will not be a bad idea if a woman is made the Minister of Works for the first time in the country’s democratic process.
“There is no gainsaying the fact that women are as good as the men and there is nothing that will be too much for women to ask because of their contributions to the development of the country,” Ekwunife said.
She further advocated for a male minister to man the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development for the first time in the country.
