Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) has raised the alarm that the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has plans to keep former deputy governor of the state, Otunba Iyiola Omisore, in perpetual custody with stringent bail conditions that would be impossible to meet.
The party, in a resolution signed by its chairman, Dr. Bayo Faforiji, also condemned in totality the arrest of the former deputy governor, former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode and others by the commission noting that prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) ruling members in similar situations are protected by government.
According to the resolution made available to newsmen by the party Director of Publicity, Prince Diran Odeyemi, said: “We condemn in its totality, the fragrant disregard for the rule of law exhibited by agents of the EFCC in the arrest and subsequent detention of Omisore and others.”
The chairman, who however, expressed the party’s unflinching support for the National caretaker committee of the party under the chairmanship of Senator Ahmed Makarfi, maintained that, “we stand solidly behind the outcome of the May21st National convention of the party in Port-Harcourt which dissolved the National Working committee headed by the former chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi.”
The resolution then urged Sherrif and others to accept the judgement of the High court delivered in Port-Harcourt on monday,4th july,2016 for lasting peace to reign in the party.
It concluded that the party is known for orderliness and respect for the rule of law and charged all and sundry to abide by the court judgment for the advancement of the party.
