Acting National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Prince Uche Secondus has said the era when the high and mighty owned the Peoples Democratic Party was over. Secondus said as the party begins electronic registration of its members with its pilot programme taking off from Edo state the party is being returned to the people who are the true owners of the party. “The Peoples Democratic Party returns to the people at the grass roots who are the true owners of the party,” Secondus stated.
The acting chairman of the Opposition party said this yesterday when he inaugurated the PDP E-membership Registration Committee headed by High Chief Raymond Dokpesi. The e-registration which will start on Friday would be executed by 200 staffers of ecollect technologies, consultant to carry out the biometric capture of party members and new entrants.
The committee has six months to conclude the assignment stressing that the new platform of membership registration would also provide members opportunities to make their various payments due to the party through e-transactions.
According to the chairman: “We believe that for us to succeed in our objective of rebuilding the Party, we must be courageous enough to implant the e-membership registration now “Also, it is obvious that this is the only thing that would empower the grass roots and ensure internal democracy in the operations of the party.”
Responding to the leadership of the party on the assignment they were given, Chairman of the Committee, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi and former Chairman of Daar Communications said they will decisively mobilise Nigerians who are faithful to the party to register as well as register those who would want to be members.
He said they will not spare any efforts at ensuring they achieve the noble tasks of being e- compliant in the membership of the party. “We’ll go quiet decisively to register all faithful members of the party and willing Nigerians. “We shall spare no effort in ensuring that we will start.
Other members of the committee includes: His Excellencies governors of Ekiti and Gombe state Ayo Fayose And Ibrahim Dankwambo respectively, Sen Walid Jibril reps BoT Secretary, Dr. Kema Chikwe, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Hon. Leo Ogor among others.
