Don’t Allow Politicians Hijack EFCC, Fayose Advises Buhari

The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, yesterday advised President Muhammadu Buhari against allowing politicians to hijack the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for their selfish motives. Also, the Governor has sworn-in 10 new commissioners to man various ministries in the State, warning that he would fire whoever found displaying act of betrayal among them.

Fayose, who spoke in Ado Ekiti while administering oaths on the new commissioners, saluted the doggedness of the former Aviation Minister, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode and congratulate him on his victory in the court of law over the corruption cases instituted against him by EFCC. “I want to advice President Buhari not to allow politicians to hijack the graft war because if our motive is to fight personality instead of the corrupt people, then you will destroy institutions and rubbished the whole thing.

“The war should not be partisan or be fight in the face of vendetta or act of vindictiveness”, he warned. The Governor warned the new Commissioners not to flex muscles with permanent secretaries and Directors in the course of performing their statutory, urging them to see the opportunity as a divine grace. Those sworn-in include: Mr. Lanre Ogunsuyi, Information, Chief Bisi Kolawole, Environment, Mr. Kolapo Kolade, Local Government and Chief
taincy Affairs, Hon Kehinde Odebunmi, Agriculture, Dr Ojo Olurotimi Simon, Health, Hon Adesua Ayodeji, Public Utilities, Hon Tayelolu Otitoju, Lands.

Others include: Hon Victor Eegunjobi, Education, Mr. Olugbenga Olajide, Budget and Planning , Mrs. Olayinka Ogundayomi, Women Affairs. The governor had upon assumption of office sworn-in Barr Owoseeni Ajayi as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kayode Oso, Works and Toyin Ojo,

Advising the Commissioners to maintain dignity and refrain from corrupt practices, Fayose said: “You were made commissioners not because you lobbied me, but because I counted you worthy. But immediately I found out that you are engaging in betrayal, I will fire you. “But I want to plead with the members of our party not to put them on unnecessary financial burden, because Ekiti is financially incapacitated for now.
