Commissioner Of Police Leads March Against Crime

The Abakaliki, the state capital, stood still early yesterday, as officers and men of the police marched round the city to demonstrate their readiness to combat crime in the state.

The march tagged“Walk Against Crime” was led by the State Commissioner of Police,Mrs.Peace Ibekwe Addallah and it was the first of its kind in the state.

The ‘Walk Against Crime March’,which commenced from the headquarters was accompanied by chanting of solidarity songs by the officers and men.

Addressing the Police at Officers Mess at the end of the exercise, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mrs. Ibekwe Abdallah explained that the event was to demonstrate the agility and mental alertness of the security personnel to rid the state of suspected criminal elements.

Mrs. Abdallah noted that the Command had adopted the visible policing as proactive step towards maximum security these ember months, and charged officers and men to live to their responsibilities.

The Police Commissioner solicited the support of residents of the state to assist the police by providing useful information on time to security agents to enable them nip crime in the state.
