Buhari Promises To Correct Mistakes Of Past Leaders

President Muhammadu Buhari, Thursday, promised that his administration would rescue Nigeria from mistakes of past leaders and also make the country prosperous.

President Buhari who made the promise during his one-day visit and commissioning of Osogbo Government High School in Osun State, said government is aware of the present pains Nigerians are undergoing in the last one and half years.

He noted that change cannot be achieved on bed of roses but on patience, perseverance, steadfastness and dedication.

According to him, “our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), promised positive and progressive change and we will not deter from it.

“Changes are never achieved on the bed of roses but through steadfastness, dedication, integrity, the country shall be rescue and make prosperous again.

“What we are trying to do since is to introduce all ingredients in the change mantra on the individual levels but change takes perseverance, endurance, dedication to achieve.”

President Buhari stated that his government has devoted 10 percent of the entire budget to the education sector to show the priority of the government, saying his desire is to see the country maintaining its high tempo in education as it was in the past.

“All Progressives Congress (APC) government promised to make education in Nigeria qualitative as well as make it cost effective. We are desired to tackle the rot in the education sector, so also, other sectors in the country”, he said.

He described the school he commissioned as “monumental”, which he said was worthy of emulation.

“Osogbo High School being commissioned is a legacy of Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s administration. It is three schools in one place. The economy is unquantifiable and worthy of emulation by other states”, Buhari said.

The president then commended the state government and the people of the state for supporting his government, saying that four times he had come to the state and had got their support all the times.

President Buhari maintained that efforts are in place by his administration to achieve its desired goals, adding that his administration would continue to support all the states to achieve all round development irrespective of political party.

He also congratulated the people of the state on its 25th anniversary.

Delivering his address titled” For a Bright Today and a Glorious Tomorrow “, Governor Aregbesola disclosed that a sum of N1.35billion was spent to put the edifice in place.

He said that the school has 72 classrooms, each capable of sitting 49 students.

Aregbesola added that 1694 schools across the state have been renovated, while 14 elementary, 15 middle and 11 high schools have been completed.

He stated that the ruling APC has bigger commitment to education development and that the state is looking at the next 25 years through education.

“Education is life and this shall be pursued by this administration. All the new schools is to provide good and conducive environment for learning for pupils in the state. It is not just to develop the brain, but to alleviate poverty of our people”, he said.

He therefore commended the president for salvaging the country from collapse, adding that Buhari he has not failed Nigerians.

Aregbesola also appealed for public support for President Buhari in tackling all the problems bedevilling the country, saying that Nigeria can be great again.
