Buhari, Dangote, Governors,Others For SL Akintola 50th Memorial Remembrance

President Mohammadu Buhari, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, governors and other dignitaries are to grace the 50th remembrance of former Premier in the Western Nigeria, Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola.

The memorial remembrance of the former Premier between 1959 and 1962 who was murdered on January 15, 1966 during Nigeria’s first military coup which resulted in the assassination of many leading politicians, mostly members of the Northern People’s Congress will come up on Thursday 14 and Friday 15, January, 2016 in Ogbomoso, Oyo state.

The Chairman Planning Committee for the memorial remembrance, Mr. Yemi Adedokun made this known on Sunday during memorial and thanksgiving service by the family of the late Icon at First Baptist Church, Okelerin, Ogbomoso.

Adedokun added captains of industries, traditional rulers, political top notchers and Creme de creme of the society including business and political associates of the late sage and family are expected to grace the occasion.

The programme will also features lecture in memory of the former Premier and foundation laying of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Post- graduate building at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH on Thursday 14, January while he said interdenomination Service will hold at Ladoke Akintola’s Lounge, Oke-Ado, Ogbomoso on Friday.

In his sermon with theme “How to enjoy the best from the Lord”, the minister in Charge, Revd John Aworinde charged members of the society to live life that is worthy of emulation.

“Thank God for the life of Chief S.L Akintola. God used him to contribute to the infrastructural development and advancement of other sectors during his lifetime and not only in Ogbomoso but for the entire South West and Nigeria”, he said.

In his thanksgiving message, the first Son of the late sage, Amb. Yomi Akintola thank God for his mercy upon their lives as children.
According to him, life nearly became miserable after the death of their fathers because he was less than 25 years old when S.L Akintola died.
