APGA Chairmanship: Diwe Humbled By Calls To Serve

Damian Duruiheoma, Owerri

The former President-General of Orlu Zurumee Socio-cultural organization, Chief  Emeka Diwe has expressed surprise at the calls by some members of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, for him to run for the national chairmanship of the party.

Some youths in the party had last week called on Diwe to accept to run for the national chairmanship of the APGA   assuring him of mobilising support for the project ahead of the party’s forth coming national convention.

Speaking when some journalists cornered him in Owerri, Diwe, who was the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Ideato Federal Constituency, said he felt humbled by the calls from APGA members for him to become the next national chairman of the party.

He stated that “In all the positions I have held in life,   none of them was generated based on my quest for it. It has always been a clarion call by people of good will for me to serve in one position or the other.

And I accept or reject them depending on my suitability for such positions. In any case that I accept, I always devote my time and resources to ensure I achieve success.

“But, in this case, while I appreciate the group for their call, I’m still making consultations on whether or not to make myself available for such position”, he said, adding that APGA as it stood now needed to be strengthened to continue to win elections in every geopolitical zone of the country.

Diwe used the opportunity to call on the leadership of the party to zone the position of the national chairman of the party to Imo State in the spirit of fairness, justice and equity, adding that Imo had worked very hard and contributed immensely to the advancement of the party since inception and had even gone ahead to win governorship, Nation Assembly and state assembly elections since its inception.

He added that since Abia and Anambra States had held the chairmanship positions of the party, it would be fair and imperative to zone the national chairmanship of the party to Imo State as nobody from the state had ever occupied the position since the inception of the party.
