AKWA IBOM: Don Etiebet For Burial Dec. 11

Akwa Ibom State has an­nounced the death of one of its bright political stars and one-time governor of old Cross River State, Chief Donald Dick Etiebet.

A statement signed by Commissioner for Informa­tion in the state, Mr. Anie- kan Umanah, said late Chief Etiebet, who served as Governor of the then Cross River State from October 1, 1983 to December 31, 1983 when a military coup ousted the Second Republic, would be buried on December 11.

According to the state­ment, Chief Etiebet “was a lawyer and committed pa­triot, statesman, community leader and an invaluable as­set to our dear State”.

His burial would take place at his Country home of Ikot Ekpuk in Oruk- Anam Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

“We wish to notify mem­bers of the public and sympathizers that mourn­ing house had since been opened with the proclama­tion of the death of Senator Etiebet (Akpan Annang of Annang Land) by the Presi­dent of Afe Nkuku Annang, Obong Cosmas Okon Ak- pan and Paramount Ruler of Essien Udim Local Govern­ment Area.

“We urge friends, associ­ates, the political class and sympathizers to kindly join us to bid our elder states­man farewell.

“Furthermore, we wish to state that all other burial programmes remain as an­nounced by the family”, Umana further stated.
