T he Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Alhaji Ahmed Idris, has advised public sector accountants to ensure prudent and judicious management of public funds for effective implementation of government programmes.
This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday by the Deputy Director, Press, Office of the AGF, Mr Ifeanyi Okereke.
According to the statement, Idris gave the advice when the executive members of the Association of the National Accountants of Nigeria, (ANAN) FCT branch, paid him a visit.

“ANAN, whose members are controllers of funds in the civil service, must see themselves as critical stakeholders in this administration.
“I urge you to be more innovative, efficient and prudent in the management of the available resources’’, he said.
Idris pledged his commitment to upholding the professional ethics of the body in the discharge of his duties. The AGF also assured that the nation’s treasury under his watch would be prudently and transparently managed to ensure that the change promised by President Buhari was reflected in the lives of Nigerians.
