Chairman House of Representative Committee on Finance, Jibrin Abdulmumin yesterday dropped his ambition to run for the position of the Speaker of the House endorsing Yakubu Dogara as the best candidate for the job.
Addressing journalists with members of the “8TH Assembly Consolidation Group” in Abuja, Abdulmumin said he decided to drop out of the race after wide consultation with his colleagues. “In order to diffuse the prevailing tension, unite the House and ensure a smooth take-off of the Buhari administration, I hereby withdraw from the race for the Speakership of the 8th House of Representatives and consequently throw my weight behind the candidature of Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, one of our senior colleague, a man of integrity, an astute legislator and an amiable gentle man”.
He said that he is throwing his weight behind the candidature of Yakubu Dogara is because he comes with no baggage adding that he is trusted by all with the largest acceptability and capacity to unite the House. The law maker went on to say that Dogara is a honest, straight forward and does not lie just as he added that He will serve as a reliable link with the party (APC), the returnee and first term members. “He is a man who epitomises personal discipline, a man who has the full conviction of his faith and a man who has strong family values.
