Chief Olu Falae Gets A Nasty Birthday Gift From Alleged Herdsmen Who Denied Him The Joy Of His 77Th Anniversary
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF) and Presidential Candidate of Alliance for Democracy in 1999, Chief Oluyemisi Samuel Falae was handed a distasteful birthday package by kidnappers suspected to be herdsmen, who abducted him from his farm, at Ilado village along Igbatoro in Akure North area of Ondo state.
Family sources said Falae, age 77, was abducted on a day he clocked a new age. The octogenarian, who is the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), was attacked before he was whisked away by the herdsmen on his farm.
It was gathered that some workers in the farm were also attacked by the suspected herdsmen who shot sporadically into the air. Director of Administration and Publicity of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ondo state, Mr. Remi Olayiwola, who confirmed the news to journalists, said Chief Falae was kidnapped on his farm.
“It was confirmed that Baba went to his farm as usual in Ilado. The gunmen went to his farm attacked and kidnapped him”, he said. He added that the abductors have demanded the sum of N100 million before his release. “The abductors have contacted Chief Olu Falae’s wife and they are demanding the sum of N100 million before they would release him”, he said.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Wole Ogodo confirmed the news to journalists in a phone interview. Ogodo said it was not a case of Kidnap but an attack from herdmen. He said the victim and his abductors had been having running battles on the farm land for some months back now. The Police image maker said Falae was taken away while some of his staff were seriously injured.
