300 Widows Get A’Ibom First Lady’s Lifeline

No fewer than 300 widows across the 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State have benefitted from the intervention of the First Lady, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel.

The Governor’s wife, who doled out the largess including cash and household items, urged the beneficiaries to utilize the donations to better their lots in the society.

According to Mrs. Emmanuel, the intervention became necessary t cushion the effect of poverty and other social difficulties faced by the widows in the State.

Mrs. Emmanuel, who frowned at the exposure of women to some harmful family practices, enjoined the widows to take such cases to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare.

According to her, the current government led by her husband was desirous of giving every citizen in the polity a sense of belonging and solicited the cooperation of the people towards the sustainability of the development plans of government.

Mrs. Emmanuel, who have been giving hope to the hopeless in hospitals, prisons, treatment centres and remand homes, said the policies and programmes of her husband has been made liberal to accommodate every citizen of the State.

She, therefore, craved for the enabling environment and supports for the programmes of government to thrive.
