A 13-year-old girl simply identified as Sukura Jimoh was at the weekend crushed to death by a vehicle at Ile-Olowola Compound in Ilobu, Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State.
Our correspondent learnt that the girl was inside her mother’s shop when a Toyota Camry Gold Coloured with registration number JJJ 825DB veered off the road and hit the girl inside inside the shop and she died on the spot.
According to an eye witness account, the driver of the car, Gbenga Ayangoke (28) of Ile Iyaloja Compound Erin-Osun was on high speed when he lost control and veered off the road and knocked down the girl inside the shop at around 10.30 am.
The unfortunate incident, it was also gathered made the angry mob set the car ablaze while the driver of the car was rescued by timely intervention of policemen from Ilobu.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs. Folasade Odoro (DSP) who confirmed the incident said that normalcy has been restored to the area adding that the driver of the car has been helping the police in their investigation.
She disclosed that the remains of the girl has been deposited at General Hospital, Ilobu for autopsy. Mrs. Odoro added that the matter would be taken to court after the completion of the investigation.
