Police Arrest Five Fuel Hijackers With Military Uniform

Being alert to its constitutional responsibility, the Oyo State Police Command of Nigeria Police Force have rounded up some men of underworld who specialize in hijacking fuel tankers on the highways.

One of the series of the nefarious acts happened at the Agbowo Express in the state capital,Ibadan when five persons who wore fake military uniforms and hijacked a tanker filled with 31,000 litres of engine oil were nailed by the police.

The tanker together with the 31,000 litres of the engine oil which were initially carted away by the syndicate were however recovered by men of the command, when the consignment was being offloaded at a fuel station at Ogungbade, along Ibadan-Ife Expressway, an outskirts of Ibadan.

The driver of the hijacked truck with Registration Number: KWARA FUF-162XA, Mr. Yusuf Lukman, informed journalists that he loaded the tanker at Flour Mills Depot in Lagos and was taking the consignment to Ilorin,Kwara State before he was attacked at Agbowo Express, Lagos- Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan, adding that he works with the Mannabis Ventures Ilorin.

In the explanation of Lukman: “At Agbowo Express, a car was parked at the middle of the road. They were six and four among them wore military uniform. They stopped me and asked me to park. They were angry, asking if I wanted to crush them with the truck but I apologized.

“Before I knew what was happening, they bundled me into their car and drove me to Oyo town. Some of them also drove the tanker away from the scene. “I escaped when we got to Oyo and I came to Ibadan immediately, where I reported the matter to the police”.

The driver added, “I loaded at the Flour Mills in Lagos and was going to Ilorin. The Way Bill was in the truck and they hijacked it with the bill.”
