Five-Man Robbery Gang Arrested

The Police in Lagos are interrogating five notorious robbery suspects believed to have been terrorizing residents of Oko-Oba, a suburb of Lagos State and its environ.

The Police in Lagos have arrested five members of a notorious armed robbery gang believed to have been terrorising residents of Oko-Oba, a suburb of Lagos State and its environ.

The suspects are undergoing interrogation at the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS ) unit of the police led by a superintendent of police Abba Kyari.

The suspects, Ismaila Oladosu, Ahmed Salawu, Seuande Azeez, Sunday Samuel and Paul Monday were arrested on allegation of conspiracy and armed robbery.

Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, Kenneth Nwosu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) who confirmed the arrests of the suspects said an information about the gang was received by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Kayode Aderanti who ordered Kyari to commenced investigations and bring the gang to book.

Kyari we gathered had swung into action with his men where the gang leader Ismaila Oladosu was arrested adding that he has confessed to several operations which the gang had embarked on.

The suspect has also led the SARS team to arrest another member of the gang Monday whom he claimed was a car snatcher.

It was gathered that Monday upon interrogation revealed the whereabout of some of the stolen vehicles of which one ML Jeep Mercedes Benz, Toyota Highlander and Toyota Camry were recovered instantly.

Police source revealed that the stolen vehicles were already sold to unsuspecting members of the public at Abuja at cheap prices.

Police said the suspect has also confessed to selling six vehicles to a receiver one Gbenga, a dealer on stolen vehicles at the Agidingbi area of Lago s state.

Gbenga, revealed that he has already sold a Toyota Highlander, Toyota Camry (Orobo) Toyota Camry (Big for nothing) End of Discussion Honda, and Sienna Bus.

Meanwhile, only two cars, Toyota Highlander and Picnic has been recovered from Gbenga who had sold others before he was arrested. Police intense investigation, led to the arrest of Ismaila, the gang leader who led the police to the arrest of other gang members.

In his statement the 29-year –old gang leader from Ikiru ,Osun State Ismaila Oladisu told the police that he work with the Ikeja local government as a revenue collector on a contract basis.

According to him, he left the job in 2013 to work as a guard at the new African Shrine where he receives N15,000 monthly. The suspect who live at 20 Idowu Street, Oko-Oba, Agege said he was arrested because he was involved in car snatching.

“ I robbed a car at Oba Akran, we were three in number Azeez, Rashidi and myself. We stole a Toyota Camry, where it was parked and sold it for N230,000. Monday was the person who sold it. I received only N60,000. I don’t even know what I used the money for, I spent it on women and drinks.

“In our second operation we snatched a Mercedes Benz car at Berger along Lagos Ibadan Express. Monday has not given me money for that. We were four when we snatched a gulf and a Sienna car. The Sienna car was sold for N180,000 and Gulf sold for N120,000. One auto electrician identified as Ojo now at large helped us to start the vehicle and we removed it at where it was parked. Another suspect the 27- year- old Ahmed Salami, said he belong to a four man robbery gang and their operations was within the canal area of Mushin.

According to him,he resides at No. 1 Musiliu Street, Oko-Oba, Agege, where they robbed phones and money “We rob at midnight. We rob houses but others Tajudeen Adeyemo, Akeem, Olorunloga died in a shoot out with the police,”

On his own part, 28- year-old Soeunde Azeez., from Abalabi in Ogun State said, he was a barman at the Multipurpose hotel at Oko-Oba but he stopped the job in 2013 when he joined the three- man- gang.

Monday, an indigene of Ogwugwu said the gang supply him with cars for sale, “ so far they have given me one Camry and ML Benz Jeep. I sold the Camry for N250,000 I have not given them money for the ML Benz. They demanded for N450,000 I was aware that the second car brought to me was stolen.
