As Schools in Osun State resume for the 3rd term academic activities last Monday, over 250,000 elementary School Pupils and 3000 food vendors benefiting from the Osun School Feeding and Health Programme tagged OMeals have been re-assured of the programme continuation contrary to the speculation that it would stop.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Mr Lawrence Oyeniran who gave this assurance in Osogbo described the insinuation that the state government plans to stop the School feeding programme, as a complete falsehood. He appealed to the people of the state to regard the statement as the handy work of the enemy and enemy of the masses.
According to Oyeniran the State Government under the leadership of Governor Rauf Aregbesola has never at any time defaulted in any aspect of the School Feeding programme despite financial challenges facing the State.
He confirmed that arrangement has been made for all O-meals food vendors to also resume as usual and prepare stipulated food item in the O-meals menu table for the benefit of the pupils.
The Permanent Secretary appreciated the efforts of all School Principal, Head teachers and Teachers as partners in the development of Education in the State and urged them to brace up for their official responsibilities
Oyeniran also appealed to all students holding Tablet of Knowledge “Opon Imo” to make adequate use of it and ensure that they always handle the tablet with care for the benefit of others, noting that the tablet would go a long way in a redistributive order among the Students if properly handled.
He then warned that any damage, removal of memory card or complete lost of the tablet by any student would attracts varying amount of fine payable to Ministry of Education.
