Woman To Die By Hanging For Killing Step-son

John Shiaondo, Makurdi

A 38-year-old housewife Mrs. Ternenge Tersoo, has been sentenced to death by hanging over the murder of her co-wife’s son. Police prosecution told the Makurdi High Court presided over by Justice Jenifer Ijohor that the husband of the convict had reported the second wife to the police in 2012 that she snatched the baby from his nanny and strangled him to death.

But when the case came up before the court, Mrs. Ternenge outrightly denied the allegation and did not show any remorse. Mrs. Ternenge was also said to have testified for herself and called no witness to support her claim. However, prosecution called two witnesses including the Investigating police officer who tendered a medical report of the autopsy carried out on the deceased baby at the General hospital Vandeikya.

Delivering judgement, the judge Justice Jennifer Ijohor said evidence before her showed that the prosecution has proved his case beyond reasonable doubt so as to warrant conviction of the convict. He advised barren women to look up to God instead of engaging in nefarious acts. The convict Mrs. Ternenge was later taken to the federal minimum prisons Makurdi where she is awaiting death by hanging.
