A lady who was found with a week old baby boy has been arrested along with two accomplices by the police in Lagos.
Police Lagos Command who paraded the suspect yesterday said the suspect Nkechi Obi of Omuwa town in Imo State was arrested at Oshodi with the baby.
Police said the young lady could not give an adequate explanation of the owner of the baby and she was arrested.
Police gave names of other suspects as Ogechi Njoku, Patience Nwaogbo and Ngozi Izuora.
The Union gathered that the principal suspect had boarded a vehicle with the baby from Onitsha, Anambra state and was going to Lagos.
Our source said trouble started when the week old baby started crying and every attempt to stop him proved abortive.
It was gathered that passengers in the vehicle had complained and demanded to know why she as the mother could not breastfeed the baby. Her response we gathered had raised suspicion that the baby is not hers and the police was alerted leading to her arrest at Oshodi bus stop in Lagos.
The lady had confessed to the police that her aunty had sent her to convey the baby to the buyer in Lagos.
According to her a nurse in Lagos had contacted her aunty in Onitsha where the baby was found and paid for to join an undisclosed family in Lagos who paid N920,000 for the child.
She said she was told the family in Lagos who bought the baby had two female children but no male and that was the only way for them to have one.
Police said the baby has been kept in proper custody as investigations have been stepped up to unveil the real mother of the baby.
