As part of the efforts of the Lagos State governor , AkinwunmiAmbode to rid the state of heinous activities of hoodlums and armed robbers, the , Rapid Response Squad, (RRS), has apprehended three armed robbery suspects in Lagos while attempting to rob passengers at traffic gridlog.
According to RRS Commander Assistant Commissioner of Police, (ACP) Olatunji Disu, two of the suspected armed robbery suspects were arrested on July 31 around the National Art Theatre, Iganmu. According to him, RRS mobile teams were informed by unknown victims in two separate cars that armed robbers had attacked and robbed them at Ijora – Olopa, and the teams moved swiftly to the crime scene, where the suspects were nabbed. The two suspects Murtala Saka, 22, and Bashiru Muibi, 26 years have been charged to court with immediate effect.
In the same vein, he said the RRS operatives has also recorded another achievement through the arrest of a member of a notorious syndicate whose gang allegedly terrorised the Mile 2 area of the metropolis. “The suspect was arrested while attacking his victim , after breaking one of the car glasses of his vehicle while in on July 28.
The suspect, Ugochukwu Otuneme, 33, is said to belong to traffic robbery syndicate whospecialises in snatching and robbing innocent residents of their belongings during peak of traffic grid-lock around the Mile 2 area in the state. Meanwhile, Ugochukwu has confessed to the crime and has revealed that he perpetuate the crimes with a member of his gang, who is now at large. “I came to Lagos in 2010.

He charged residents to be courageous enough to report any suspicious movement and criminalities in their neighbourhood to the police, promising that necessary actions will be embarked upon by the police who are already at every part of Lagos state.
