Ritualists’ Den Discovered In Ibadan

Police Oyo State have again unraveled another ritualists’ den located at Badeku in Ona- Ara local government of the state.

Barely a year when the notorious Soka den was discovered in Ibadan,the police Oyo State have again unraveled another ritualists’ den in city. The den which is located at Badeku in Ona-Ara local government of the state was stormed by the men of the command led by their helmsman,Police Commissioner Muhammad Musa Kastina on Monday. It was gathered that the Baale of the area who suspected that something sinister was going on there alerted the police.

The police consequently acted on a tip-off which eventually led to the bustling of the den. As gathered,the suspected ritualists used to abduct people,hypnotise them and dispossess the victims of their belongings. One person, Ismail Adesina, who confessed to be a kidnapper,ritual and swindler was arrested by the police while others took to their heels on sighting the police.

He said he has been in the ‘ business’ for a long time. The Baale of Ojoko,Moses Adetunji Taiwo, who spoke with newsmen said the suspected ritualists came to him and presented themselves as theatre art practitioners when they wanted to acquired the land. But when the building was being erected over four years ago, he said,he was oblivious of what was going on there until it got to his knowledge that those people turned out to be fraudsters. Adesina, and fake dollars found in the Shrine that he had informed members of the community upon discovering that the area was being used for something nefarious, the matter was reported to the police further investigation to be made. Speaking on the incident,the Oyo State Commissioner of Police,Muhammad Musa Kastina,told newsmen that the place was discovered based on a trip-off to the police.

The police warned criminal elements in the state to desist from criminal activities or relocate,saying they have three options: to leave the criminal world and turn a new leaf,to abstain from criminality or remain adamant and get caught. The police chief stressed that the police would make the state uncomfortable for them. Items recovered from the suspects include fake dollars and pound sterling of various denominations and charms.
