Police Declare Alleged Fraudster Wanted In Enugu

The Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has declared one Owalum Moses Ikechukwu alias Moscow wanted for some criminal activities in the state. The Police said Moses Ikechukwu had been engaged in several nefarious activities ranging from presenting himself to unsuspecting members of the public as a meter engineer attached with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company to other related crimes.

A statement by the Enugu state Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, DSP stated that the suspect with an EEDC staff identity card has been duping innocent customers, engaging in illegal connections, calibration of customers meters, meter bypass and theft amongst others. Amaraizu said that the suspect, now at large had gone to a customer at Zik Avenue, Enugu to engage himself with the alleged illicit act when the attention of the police operatives were drawn to the scene by a team of authorized EEDC officials that have been monitoring those in the habit.

However, before the operatives could get to the scene, the suspect escaped, abandoning his tool box. According to Amaraizu, “immediate search conducted revealed a suspected and fake EEDC identity card containing his alleged name as Owalum Moses Ikechukwu.”

The PPRO confirmed that Owalum Moses Ikechukwu has been identified by many people as “Moscow” always in the habit of perpetrating various electricity frauds amongst others within Uwani and its environs. “Investigations have commenced into the incident just as a warrant of arrest have also been issued against the suspect,” said Amaraizu. Amaraizu then sounded a note of caution: “The command is warning members of the public not to engage the services of people whose identities are not known for official matters.
