Lady Attacked By Traffic Robbers

There was pandemonium at Mile 2 recently as motorists and passengers scamper for safety following a raid by hoodlums who operate in a traffic jam.

Sources told The Union newspaper that trouble started when the usual evening traffic jam from the Oshodi axis leading to Festac town had build up.

It was gathered that some hoodlums had started operation from the Oshodi axis where they broke glasses of vehicle and rob passengers and drivers of their valuables.

This however led to commotion as people abandoned their vehicles and scamper for safety.

Our source said a lady who was driving alone in her vehicle never took notice that there was danger as she had raised the glasses of her car until she was intercepted and asked to open her car doors and hand over all her valuables in her possession.

It was gathered that the lady who was already frightened as the able bodied robbers had surrounded her car failed to obey them immediately.

The robbers we gathered broke the side glasses of her vehicle and forcefully robbed her of her valuables as other motorists and passengers has deserted the scene.

“A young lady was surrounded and was robbed at gun point inside her car, they broke her car side glass and forcefully took her telephone, money but she was not injured. I think she was returning from work and was tired. She was relaxing in her car as the traffic was at a standstill and they were successful in the operation. The annoying thing was that there was nobody to rescue her even the police was not in sight ,” a source revealed.

The Union gathered that despite government and police efforts in putting an end to traffic jam robberies it is becoming.

The Rapid Response Squad headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Olatunji Disu has been doing marvelous in tracking down the hoodlums and many of them have been arrested and prosecuted.

The Lagos state commissioner of police, Mr. Fatai  Owoseni,told the The Union that there was no cause for alarm as the command has strategise to curtail the situation.
