Wale Tinubu Becomes Oil Council’s African Executive Of The Year

Nigeria’s class leader in the petroleum industry, Mr. Wale Tinubu, adds another feather to his cap as he is honoured with CEO of the year by the Oil Council

Group Chief Executive of Oando Plc, Mr. Wale Tinubu, will this June be crowned the African Executive of the Year by the oil council for his innumerable achievements, innovations, business strides and cumulative value creation while building Africa’s biggest indigenous energy group.

The recognition which is coming from an international industry rating organization, Oil Council, would place Mr. Tinubu, in the list privileged list of few global industry captains that have earned the award, and also bring Oando Plc to global focus as one of the fastest growing integrated energy firms in the world.

The conferment of the award will be the climax of the upcoming African Assembly to be hosted by Oil Council in France by June.

According to a programme for the event posted to Energy Today, Oil Council is to host the exclusive African Assembly in Paris in an event that has annually be sold out because of the networking value and sundry business opportunities industry chief executives and deal brokers attach to the event.

“During the Oil Council’s Africa Assembly in Paris, we host an exclusive dinner at the InterContinental Le Grand,” the organization stated in a event schedule posted online to Energy Today.

“During the Africa Dinner, we honour one executive who epitomises the values necessary to be awarded ‘African Executive of the Year’ – Excellence, Integrity, Innovation.

“We are pleased to announce that the recipient of this year’s Award, who will be joining us in Paris to receive it, is Mr Adewale Tinubu, Group Chief Executive, Oando PLC,” the organization declared in the mail.

According to letter, Mr. Wale Tinubu has received many accolades recognising his stewardship of one of Africa’s most successful and largest indigenous integrated energy companies – Oando.

“We are delighted to recognise Wale Tinubu with this award at our Summer Dinner on June 24th, in Paris, part of our three-day Africa Assembly.

In brief, Mr. Wale Tinubu has a Bachelor’s of Law Degree from the University of Liverpool, England and received his LLM from the London School of Economics, where he specialised in International Finance and Shipping.

He started his career with the family’s law firm, where he worked on corporate and petroleum law assignments.

Mr. Tinubu is Founding Partner of Ocean and Oil Group where he was mainly responsible for the strategic expansion of the business. Ocean and Oil has since transformed to current Oando Plc which in turn has diversified across the full business chain of the petroleum industry.

As the Group Chief Executive of Oando Plc, Mr. Tinubu serves as Chairman of Gaslink Nigeria Ltd; Director of Ocean and Oil Holdings Ltd; and Tilca Nigeria.

He firmly sits on the board of other subsidiaries of the company including parent Ocean and Oil Services; Oando Supply & Trading; Avante Capital Partners; Avante Property Asset Management Services; and Airtel Nigeria.

With the expansion of the company’s business outside Nigeria, Mr. Tinubu also serves on the Board of Oando Plc Sierra Leone; Oando Plc Togo; Oando Plc Ghana; and West African Refinery Company (WARCO) Sierra Leone.

He is also a member of the Institute of Directors. He is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
