Osun State government has declared that Tax Clearance Certificate has now become essential requirement to obtain service(s) in all public schools in the state.
In a press statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, state Ministry of Education, Mr. Lawrence Oyeniran, said that the move was to ensure regular payment of individual tax as well as total compliance to the tax law.
Oyeniran said that all categories of students in all public schools in the state are now required to present their parents or guardians tax clearance certificate to school heads or principals before they could enjoy freely all government provisions such as the yearly registration for West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination(WASSCE), Free Elementary School Feeding, attendance at lessons and writing of internal examinations among others .
The permanent secretary noted that this would serve as an encouragement to the millions of naira being spent by the Osun state government and also ensure the progress of children in public schools.
He then warned that students should not pay cash in their respective schools to obtain such tax clearance but that their parents and guardians pay at all government designated points.
Oyeniran also charged all parents and guardians in the state to give the tax clearance Certificate to their children and wards for presentation in school on demand as a mark of total compliance.
