OAAN Holds Its 9th Poster Awards

Preparations are in top gear as Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN), is set to hold its 2015 edition of Exhibition and Poster Awards, scheduled to take place on 25th June, 2015 at the magnificent Federal Palace Hotels and Casino, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The OAAN Exhibition & Poster Awards was birthed in 1997 as a way of promoting and rewarding creative excellence in the Out-of-Home sub-sector of the Nigerian economy. It was also a designed platform for the advertisers, suppliers and partners to exhibit their products and services.

In a statement released by the association to the UNION, the OAAN president, Mr Charles Chijide expressed gratitude for the success of last year’s edition of the award and look forward to a more successful one this year. “This year’s outing is the 9th in the series and it is our desire to make it more successful than all the previous years’ experience. We are therefore making elaborate plans to ensure that the event records significant improvement in all aspects,” he said.

During the media briefing, the President, Mr. Charles Chijide reeled out the award categories which include; Diary Food and Beverages, Alcoholic Drinks, Non-Alcoholic Drinks, Financial Services, Public Service/Real Estate, Electronics/ Electricals. Others are; Automobile/ Accessories, Household Products, Pharmaceuticals/Cosmetics, Telecoms, Information, Computer and Technology (ICT), Grand Poster, and Legend of Out of Home.

As it is evident from the categories, the organisers of the event have decided to create opportunities for all the sectors of the Nigerian economy, and has primarily focused on sub-sectors that regularly engage the platform to advertise their brands.

To ensure the credibility of the event, a formidable Poster Awards Committee have been put in place, led by the association’s immediate past president, Otunba Kola Ademulegun who is leaving no stone unturned to achieve its set objectives. Moreover, the committee has reached out to all advertising agencies in the AAAN fold, requesting that they should send in their entries for the award, and has also reached out to various advertisers to sponsor some of the lined-up activities. Gladly, there have been positive and encouraging responses from them.

According to Chijide, the panel of Judges will be made up of individual of impeccable integrity, those who are also leading professionals and practitioners in different relevant sectors to advertising practise in Nigeria; these are APCON, ADVAN, OAAN, MIPAN, the Academia, Journalism and the Consumer Protection Council, while the panel chairman will be nominated by members.
